Intro:
Just wanted to share my experience with the 3.5th Anniversary Streamer Battle (3P Star/Moon Table) in Riichi City.
The Event/Rules:
The Streamer Battle was an event organized by Riichi City to mark its 3.5-year milestone. Participants were required to live stream at least five hanchan (full games) or ten East-only matches, with recordings saved for verification.
The winner was who ever had the highest point total across 5 consecutive games.
My Strategy:
My strategy was pretty straight forward. Given the format being scored on 5 consecutive wins. You NEED to win all 5 games because the bonus for first place alone is +30 points.
This means winning all 5 consecutive games puts you at 150 points which is an amazing starting point.
Then every 1000 points higher you are from the starting value (35000 in the case of sanma) at the end of the game nets you an additional 1 point.
So what was my plan? What did I do? I went WHOLE HOG. Pushed every hand trying to get high points, grinded it out in ‘East Only’ since the turn around time for games was quick until I have a solid 2-3 games with a high score. Then I started playing more defensively for the final two.
Stand Out Moment:
Stand out moment for me was at crunch time, 24 hours before the event ended.
I was 5 wins in but still sitting at 5th place and I REALLY wanted that ‘crown border’ and ‘90 days premium’ for first place.
- 1st place - 43,000
- 1st place - 72,000
- 1st place - 75,000
- 1st place - 49,800
- 1st place - 53,200
I start crunching the numbers. I needed to end the game on a score of approximately 63,000 to overtake the first ranked player at the time who was at 287.9 points. Obviously nervous I start the game up. Praying not to be north seat because you can’t farm points as the final dealer.
- Game start.
- East seat.
- Win first hand.
- Dealer repeat.
The hand I get on the dealer repeat? GODLY.
I SAW THE YAKUMAN, IT WAS TALKING TO ME LIKE THE GREEN GOBLIN

Then it happened.
The deal in, the RON!
The Yakuman animation.
The realization I just ended with a score of 90,000 which would put me WELL above the rest (316 points).
What a crazy way to end the event!!!
I was literally shaking trying to show my partner that I was first place and by a large margin. It took me way too long to click the ranking button with the shakes that I was experiencing.
Reflections on the Victory:
- Every tile is safe.
- Always riichi.
- Always hold dora.
In all seriousness getting first place in the Riichi City 3.5th Anniversary Streamer Battle (3P Star/Moon table) was a career highlight and I cant wait for more fun events to come.
